Meet the team
At CED, we are not just about numbers. We provide opportunities for growth and success to our clients. Our comprehensive services are designed to help businesses save on taxes and achieve financial success. But it's not just about the clients. Our team is the backbone of our success. We are committed to building strong relationships with our clients, fostering teamwork within the organisation, and empowering our people to reach their full potential.
I founded CED Accountancy Services Limited in 1999 having decided that the larger firms of Chartered Accountants I had both trained with, and worked in, for the previous fifteen years, had lost sight of the real challenges faced by start up business’ and growing Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME’s). Initially working from home, I soon learned that setting up a new business from scratch is not something which is done without sleepless nights; I therefore empathise with anyone starting up their own business.
As founder, I advise on all business issues, generally getting involved in more complex matters, and in particular in dealing with challenges in business, whether as a result of growth, management change, or in recent years the consequence of changes in the global marketplace. I tend to see the services we offer as “tax minimisation and wealth maximisation services” for our clients; having said this, we generally achieve such objectives by using simple things that work rather than getting involved in complex tax schemes which can often lead to difficulties at a later stage. I personally encourage all staff members to work closely with clients to maximise returns on all business decisions, whether it is simply buying a van on HP, or investing in a purpose built new factory/office. I am heavily involved in the local amateur sports scene, having played most sports over the years; more of a keen enthusiast than a talented sportsman. Travelling is a keen hobby now with my wife and family.
Peter started his career with Deloitte. On qualifying Peter moved into industry, rising to become an award winning Finance Director working with a number of companies, with private equity and making a number of owners wealthy in the process (including a Dragon from Dragons Den).
Peter has a mix of practice, commercial and corporate finance, knowing what is needed and getting things done. Peter makes himself directly available to his clients, rather than being “hard to get hold of”.
If he ever gets the chance, you can see him falling off his surfboard or trying to run!!! He is willing to have ago at most sports, I have face planted a number of times wakeboarding, snow boarding, E Foiling and jumped out of a plane. But he has yet to master a “football pitch worthy” lawn and thus any tips welcome.
Peter is also a passionate supporter of children’s disability charities and most of the dangerous items noted above were done in that vein.
Duncan is a director and owner of the business and a Chartered Accountant and is currently the audit registered person within the practice as well as having responsibility for all regulatory matters . He has been working in practice for approximately 20 years since returning from industry and joined CEDAS in 2007 , becoming a director in 2012. During that time CEDAS has grown from a 6 person firm to nearly 30 staff and the range and breadth of services the practice provides has increased.
Duncan is keen to assist clients with advice on group structures that can minimise taxes and maximise commercial benefits. This can quite often involve a situation where a parent company holds an interest in a subsidiary or several subsidiary companies. Duncan also advises on tax planning around the timing of fixed asset expenditure and the associated tax impacts which can have very beneficial impacts on a business.
To relax Duncan enjoys visiting with his wife Vicki, their 2 daughters who now work and study respectively in London and Liverpool, and he enjoys listening to a wide range of music, as well as running , cycling and watching football and cricket.
I joined CED Accountancy Services Limited in July 2008 and now leads our Personal tax team. Having just completed my A-levels (old news), I was the first apprentice that the Company had taken on. Since joining the firm, I have gained experience in Audit and Accounts preparation and have recently finished all of my ACCA exams.
My specialty is assisting individuals with their tax affairs, whether that be tax planning and/or help completing their Personal Tax Returns each year. Katies has taken a keen interest in the specialist areas of probate issues and as a result prepare and submit Estate and Trust Tax Returns.
In my spare time, I play rugby for Buckingham Ladies (of which I was Captain for a couple of years) and over the last couple of seasons have been selected for the East Midlands County rugby team. I also like to travel and have been lucky enough to see some fantastic sights.
Adam joined CED Accountancy Services Limited in July 2013 and completed his AAT and ACCA qualifications in the following 6 years. Since joining the firm, he has had wide exposure to all facets of the firm including but not limited to Accounts preparation, Personal and Corporation Tax return preparation and Audit.
Adam’s specialty is Digital Software identification and integration. When joining the firm Cloud Accountancy was in its infancy, since then he has managed many conversions of our clients Accounting systems to Digital Accounting Systems such as Xero and Quickbooks in order to comply with Making Tax Digital (MTD). In addition to conversions he has also become the firms ‘App Specialist’ where he Identifies software in the market that can improve our Client’s processes or solve issues they are having, then works with the client to successfully integrate the new software. This provides both regained time and high value to our Clients.
In his spare time, you will find Adam spending time with his family or on a long dog walk in the countryside. He also loves watching Football and playing video games with his Friends.
